Charles Bazelais, age 26, of Stamford, was arrested on a warrant on Friday, Sept. 24 by Darien Police for the incident which took place in May.
Officers were dispatched to Haskell Lane for the report of a one-car motor vehicle accident with injuries, according to Sergeant Dan Skoumbros, of the Darien Police.
Upon arrival officers found a vehicle stuck on top of a rock wall with the driver, identified as Bazelais, still in the vehicle, Skoumbros said.
While speaking with Bazelais, officers detected the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath along with glassy eyes, police said.
Bazelais was treated at the scene for injuries from the crash and transported to Stamford Hospital.
Following an investigation, toxicology results showed that at the time of the accident, Bazelais had a BAC conversion of 0.11.
A number of motor vehicle offenses were also identified. An arrest warrant was sought, and granted for Bazelais.
On Friday, Bazelais turned himself in and was charged with:
- DUI
- Unregistered motor vehicle
- Failure to insure a motor vehicle
- Driving without a license
He was released on a promise to appear ticket.
